I’m Tessa, the hands behind Soft Rebels Ceramics. Soft Rebels is a small, handmade ceramics studio rooted in the belief that doing things with care matters.

Every piece is made entirely by hand by me in my small home studio in Charleston, South Carolina. I primarily do hand-building, working with slabs, rolling, cutting, shaping, building, and hand-painting each piece before it makes its way through multiple firings.

I make ceramics that make everyday rituals and little moments feel important and intentional, and attractive. Things that are useful don't have to be boring.

Softness is a kind of rebellion.

We live in a world that asks us to move quickly, make more, buy more, scroll more, and replace things before we’ve had the chance to really appreciate them.

Soft Rebels is my little push in the other direction. Sometimes it looks like choosing quality over convenience, keeping something instead of replacing it, making something with your own hands, or simply paying attention to the moment you're in.

It’s a reminder to slow down, pay attention, and make room for the things that make life feel good. And maybe to put your phone down every once in a while.

Softness can be powerful.
